Christantus Uche Ignites Straightforward Crystal Palace Win at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Despite entering their first-ever continental campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are adapting very quickly. Without star players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a commanding result that all but secures them a place in the Conference League qualifying rounds.

A further three points in their next fixture against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to seal direct passage to the last 16, particularly following a prior setback against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Seize the Moment

This match provided a chance for several Palace's lesser-used talent to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning since arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a well-taken goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, finding the net for the second game in succession.

A Shelbourne side that had concluded their domestic season were no match even for a mostly rotated Palace outfit. The Londoners were further weakened by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee injuries.

Shelbourne were hanging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for two agricultural tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a powerful header from a corner.

The contest was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of weak challenges before coolly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

After the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw several individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring with his first touch, only to see his shot blocked.

The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off both posts before being gathered on the line. Uche then blazed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still room for development in his game.

The only worry for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, capping an otherwise positive night for the visiting side.
